A flyover of the Venice area, in the Southeastern tip of Louisiana, this morning shows significant damage. The Venice area serves as a hub for gas and oil collection services, and contains several terminals, plants, and other facilities. There is still water in the plant yards, and at least eighteen rig platforms have been lost. The flickr set shows that access to the Venice area via Highway 23 is extremely limited, and all access thus far has been by helicopter.

I am a N.O resident that is now in minneapolis because my home is probably destroyed. I was in N.O until Thursday nigh tafter the hurricane and had 4ft of water in my home. I also owned a houseboat in Venice marina and was wondering if you had any pictures of the marina. Thank you.

There is an aerial picture of the Venice Marina from WWLTV here. It doesn’t look too good.
